AUDITIONS: August 17 &18 beginning at 7pm

CASTING: 5 actors: 2 men, 1 woman, 2 of any gender. All actors must be 15 years of age or older. Community Players takes an inclusive stance towards casting.

WHAT TO DO: Those auditioning will be asked to read provided cuttings from the script. Please be prepared to read scenes with and without a British accent.

ABOUT THE SHOW: The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being picked off one by one, and its down to Holmes and Watson to brave the desolate moors and crack the case before a family curse dooms its newest scion. Five actors portray over forty characters in this madcap web of clues, silly accents, disguises, deceit, and demon dogs of Devonshire! Just how far from “elementary” can the truth really be?

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS


SHERLOCK HOLMES (male) The preeminent private detective of London and beyond. Highly intelligent and confident, charismatic, and obsessive. There is nothing he loves more than a good mystery or adventure, but his friend Watson comes a close second. His mind works overtime. 


Doctor Watson (male) With his feet planted firmly on the ground and a sense of wonder in his heart, he lives to assist Holmes on his adventures. This story is seen through his eyes.


Actor One (any gender) Must show great physical and vocal versatility, including multiple dialects. Plays 10+ roles, including a shy nerd, a secret psychopath, a mournful caretaker, and a stoic doctor, among others.


Actor Two (any gender) Must show great physical and vocal versatility, including multiple dialects. Plays multiple roles, including a cruel cavalier, an exuberant young man, an earnest Texan, a loving wife, and a cocky police inspector, among others. 


Actress One (female) Must show great physical and vocal versatility, including multiple dialects. Plays multiple roles, including a secretive woman, a scrappy urchin boy, a humorless Swedish caretaker, a maternal housekeeper, a melodramatic woman, and others.
