About   the   show: Eliza Doolittle is a young flower girl held back by her unmistakable Cockney accent. With the help of Professor Henry Higgins, maybe she can ascend the rungs of Edwardian society. An unlikely friendship flourishes as she learns to speak like a proper lady, singing some of musical theatre’s most endearing songs along the way.

Ages and genders listed below are as defined by the playwrights

and may not be entirely reflected in casting.

Eliza Doolittle (Soprano, age 20-35) A strong-willed cockney flower girl from Lisson Grove, Eliza works outside Covent Garden. Her potential to become “a lady” becomes the object of a bet between Higgins and Pickering.

Henry Higgins (Baritone, age 30-60), A British, upper class professional bachelor, Higgins is a world-famous phonetics expert, teacher, and author of “Higgins’ Universal Alphabet.”

Colonel Pickering (Baritone, age 50+) A retired British officer with colonial experience, Pickering is the author of “Spoken Sanskrit.”

Alfred P. Doolittle (Baritone, age 50+) Eliza’s boisterous and charismatic father, Doolittle is an elderly but vigorous dustman.

Freddy Eynsford-Hill (Tenor, age 25-40) An upper class young man, who becomes completely smitten with Eliza.

Mrs. Pearce (Mezzo Soprano, age 40+) Henry Higgins’ housekeeper who acts as a surrogate mother to Eliza.

Harry (Bass/Baritone, age 20-70) Drinking companions of Alfred Doolittle.

Jamie (Tenor, age 20-70) Drinking companions of Alfred Doolittle.

Mrs. Eynsford-Hill (age 40-70) A friend of Mrs. Higgins, Mrs. Eynsford-Hill is Freddy’s high-society mother.

Mrs. Higgins (Non-Singing, age 50+) Henry’s self-assured, wealthy, elegant, and long-suffering mother.

Prof. Zoltan Karpathy (Non-Singing, age 20-40) A bearded Hungarian, Karpathy is a former phonetics student of Henry Higgins who fancies himself impossible to dupe when it comes to identifying the origin of anyone’s speech patterns.

Ensemble (all) Will fill the roles of many varied scenes from flower girls in Covent Garden to horse race attendees to servants to lords and ladies at a ball. Will need to sing and dance.
