Community Players Board of Directors is conducting a search for a new Managing Artistic Director to guide daily operations, and provide collaborative artistic vision and guidance of programming, at an active and dynamic community theatre.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position serves as chief executive for Community Players overseeing the day-to-day operations. Position is responsible for establishing artistic vision and guidance of programming through collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Supervises: Associate Director, Patron Services Manager, all other permanent employees, regular season guest directors, designers, and volunteer crew heads.

 

Exempt Position: Full-time

Annual Salary Range: $40,000 - $48,000 based on qualifications

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for coordination and supervision of all productions, ensuring consistent

quality of productions and volunteer experiences as well as the direction of at least three regular season productions per season. Responsibilities also include budget and finance oversight, grant writing, fundraising and development, public relations and board and staff management.

 

Community Players, a community theatre in Beatrice Nebraska, is seeking an individual of ambition, creativity, passion, and independence to fill the position of Managing Artistic Director. Community Players is an established organization in downtown Beatrice preparing to celebrate its 50th Anniversary Season.

 

A short 45-minute drive from the state capital makes this theatre a destination for many surrounding communities as well as Beatrice itself. Community Players has been recognized and awarded both locally and nationally, including a recent collaboration on the HBO Documentary Mind Over Murder. Community Players is intentional about working to provide a welcoming atmosphere for new volunteers and patrons, showing ongoing appreciation of work, treating all those involved with fairness and providing opportunities to provide collaborative feedback for improving the organization.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in partnership with the Associate Director, the Managing Artistic Director is the producer of the Community Players' theatrical season and serves as the organization's chief executive officer. The Managing Artistic Director oversees two full-time and one part-time employees, areas of responsibility also include marketing, administration, financial management, human resources, development & fundraising, board relations, and public relations. This is a full-time, salaried position.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

– Experience with leading, managing, motivating, and inspiring a team

– Be a community advocate and ambassador of the arts

– Effective community-engagement and relationship-building skills

– Experience in grant writing

– Experience directing stage productions

– Strong budgeting and financial-management skills

– Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities as unexpected challenges arise

– Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

– Experience with facility management and building maintenance

– Strong technology and social-media fluency

– A passion for arts and theatre

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

● A bachelor’s degree and five years of professional leadership experience. All degrees are considered, and degrees in business management, administration, finance, and arts-related fields are a plus.

● Three years of dedicated staff supervisory experience.

● An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered to meet these qualifications on a case-by-case basis.

 

SALARY: $40,000-48,000 based on qualifications


START DATE: March, 2023 (exact start date negotiable)


EXPERIENCE: 3-5 yrs
